Melissa dear... you are doing awesome. Keep learning and enjoying your BX. Here’s a tip from a 14yr BX owner... when mowing with the rear mower... especially in the woods... remove the bucket. You’ll still have plenty of front end weight from the loader frame and your maneuverability will improve oodles!

Melissa - One safety pointer! The PTO Shield / Protector should have a small chain attached to it and connected to either the tractor or brush hog frame. The plastic part of PTO shaft (protector) should not be rotating while the PTO is running. This is part of the safety mechanism to prevent items like clothing or strings /etc from getting caught / wrapped in the rotating shaft.

Put the fire wood bucket on the little guy! Of course you would need wheels on the bottom to keep the bucket off the ground ;) Looks like this should be on the Morgans Off The Leash channel. Probably no hardball questions when you interview yourself ;)

Melissa - Great video. I liked your 5 things you have learned that are important. I am curious. It appeared that on your way to your cutting location there was some fairly tall grass along the trail, but you weren't cutting it. I'd be interested in knowing why you weren't cutting on the way to, and back from your work area? Also, I think I heard you hit something pretty big with the mower. Sounds like maybe there's a need to get the chipper out to clean out some of those hidden branches maybe? You guys do a great job. I just finished another marathon viewing this afternoon. I really enjoyed your fireworks show Saturday evening. My wife and I viewed it together. Thanks for all you do to keep us informed about life in the hundred acre wood.

Mike may have warned already.... when around trees in the woods with a tractor watch those tall rear tires as they will climb up the tree flipping the tractor. Mine crawled a tree (I stopped in time) while backing out of a bad side hill situation. I've done some dumb things with a tractor in my time but that was my worst scare.

instead of walking through the long grass were deer tics like to live i would lower bucket just barely off ground so if there was anything there the bucket would scoop it up first before the mower reached it.

In your neck of the woods you might want to watch for various ticks, esp since Lyme disease is moving into that area. Plus I assume there are snakes in your area. It would be a good idea to wear long pants, say blue jeans. As you drive through the brush a wild rose (multiflora) will pop up and those will eat you on the way into it and on the way out, so a nice set of gloves would help you grab that stuff. Safety starts before touching a tractor, eye and hearing protection, bug and or sunscreen spray, and boots, long pants. Finally, let someone know what you are doing. Good job on roll protection bar and using seat belts

YES Melissa a fella down below mentioned you digging your own pool. You can get the stakes out and stake off where you want your pool and while mike is at work you and your tractor ca start digging the hole for it. He can't say no if the hole is already being dug can he??😉😁 Might be a little rough going for the first couple weeks of having to move the dirt with the dump trailer for you but he will see the vision of you with your hair up and in a bikini and decide hey this is a good thing LOL. So tomorrow we want to see that digging starting with a huge smile on your face. And heck you can practice with your bakini on while digging 😉😁 Can't wait to see the stakes and hole tomorrow. That was cool video of you Bush hogging but what did you do with the firewood that was in the bucket .I guess maybe it was for Hunter for his firewood starter kits.

I had to share this with my wife. We are building and moving to our 80 acre tree farm next year and she's not sure what she can do. She mows about 4 acres on a Toro Zero turn I bought her last year and she loves doing that. I told her I could get her a tractor like you have and do more with it. I will let you know what she thinks after she watches this.

What I do: roll the bucket back as far as it goes. Lower the lift arms as low as they go. If you have float position, use it. The bucket will find stumps, rocks, fawns, etc. watch, listen and feel . You will still wreck stuff, but you will also cut brush where no person has gone before.

Great job Melissa. You're learning fast and describing the process as you go just great. I think you have almost graduated to Equipment Operator Level 1 status. I would add one more thing to your list of do's and don'ts. Seriously look at making a habit out of wearing a hard hat, ear protection and goggles. Looking fashionable behind the wheel is a non starter when you are operating equipment and concentrating on doing the job safely and well. Well done overall and Mike better watch out. Females running heavy equipment are carving out a rightful place for themselves in this competitive world and compiling a great safety record in the process.

It was great to see you out working your property as well as Mike. I used to have a very small woodlot behind one of our previous homes. I wished we had a brush-hog but the area was way too small for that kind of equipment. We did it all with hand or power tools. Do you still have your chipper for a tractor?? I'm sorry to say that seeing all that fallen wood stuff drives me crazy. I have heard Mike talking about cleaning it up at least along the trails. Will it be a future endevour to clean up some of that dead fall?? Have a day!!

Melissa something to remember is that once you feel like you have it all down and start to get really comfortable step back and pay extra attention. When people get hurt it is usually because they got over confident and relaxed there alertness. Confidence is a good thing but over confident people are more likely to get hurt than beginners who pay attention

Keep your loads low and carry them slow. Great words of safety when using your loader. I would also like to add keep right hand near the loader joystick. If things go bad you have the ability to get your load on the ground and allow your center of gravity back over the four wheels of the tractor and not teetering on the front wheels. Seat time is the greatest teacher there is! You will get there. Good work!

This proper Melissa Morgan! I much prefer the " I'm new but I am a quick study and I am learning fast" to some of her earlier videos. In them she was shy and apologetic about being a novice. It was, of course, honest and true, which why it struck me so hard. There were huge shadows of self doubt polluting her sparkling spirit. I am damn glad those doubts have hit the road. Now if she would not worry about the state of her Hair, things would be even better. It is a great element of her beauty. This is never more true than when it is a wild flowing Mane. Farrah Fawcett made career of her wild hair, though the red one piece helped a bit. Melissa can light up the world with her smile in casual clothes. The red tractor doesn't hurt, but it comes in third. Her personal sunshine, and the nice day take first and second place.. The Hat did show a certain style, capping a perfect, working look. Her mix of confidence and caution, not doubt, made this video shine. The concept Melissa is stressing is known as Situational Awareness, knowing your surrounding and how actions connect with them. I limited myself to a bicycle, because it fit the limits of my situational awareness while riding it a Moped, or Motorcycle would have required a greater awareness and reaction I just did not have. I just could not keep my "head on a swval" as the fighter pilots say, enough to be safe and confident on a faster vehicle. I also knew even the best motorcycle riders ran into condition which exceeded their awareness and control. a point Melissa included was how awareness effects problem situations. Awareness not only avoids problems, but allows better and quicker response to trouble when it comes. The trailing mower is more challenging than the common center mount,, lawn mower. Melissa worked to keep this in mind, both in the driver's seat, and in checking the track ahead of mowing it. Both her mowing and her instruction were spot on Melissa shows how a well prepared, smart Novice can be a better teacher than a less focused Expert. The Novice may understand the learning process much better than the old pro.. Of course that Melissa is Not a wizzened graybeard doesn't hurt either. AARP says one is a Senior Citizen at 50. I have long believed she is solidly a Double Barreled 25. Seeing her active, sparkling every day reinforces this notion. Seeing her withj her daughters, who are developing their own ageless beauty, seals the deal for me. Now it is time for this greybeard to fold his tent and steel away, after hopefully amusing the Morgans and their many friends. May God Bless, Protect, and comfort you alll

Question for Mike and Melissa. Do you all have problems with ticks in your woods? That is one thing that I hate, even more than snakes! I actually drove two hours from my farm to my home, after a short stay, because I had a tick on my person that I could not reach. The wife said to go to an Urgent Care center to have it removed. Where it was attached I told her "I don't think so!".

Melissa. Nice video. You could use the mid mount mower to cut your paths once you have already blazed your trail. It will be much easier on your neck plus it gives the tractor more maneuverability and lower center of gravity. Just speaking from experience.
Good afternoon Melissa, what a good learning experience you have passed out for others to gain confidence in operating equipment you shared today on Outdoors With The Morgan’s. 👍👍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Fantastically Covered. Great job on the trails with the brush hog, looked good and then you covered the easiest thing forgotten. Paying attention to both ends all the time, swinging around and before you know it something happens!! You’re doing a great job with your learning and all you are able to do around there.
