New subscriber here from MA, binging my way through your back-catalog of videos. Enjoy watching outdoor stuff from my old college area (went to college in Beaver Falls). There definitely is something about running a chipper. My mother, who didn't do much outside beyond walking and gardening, loved running the chipper when my dad was clearing land in Maine for their retirement home.

If you place a sheet of plywood in the trailer opposite the discharge pipe, you can tilt it a little higher and make sure everything ends up in the trailer.
Craig Norris
Craig Norris 3 ай мурун
I use a 1/4 inch sheet of plywood stood up in the far side of the trailer. You can get closer so all the leaves make it in and the plywood acts as a backstop to prevent overshot.

Hi Mike I just subscribed and was wondering how big is your building going to be? Sounds like it's going to be pretty large. Just a suggestion what ever size you think you want double it because it will get full. Great video thanks for sharing looking forward to seeing your new building evolve.

You can have the chipper. I’ll take the chainsaw. Regards the size of the cistern tank, a little bigger might be better especially if the last couple weeks here in Western PA are a harbinger of weather to come. Or, if you start to run short you could have a tanker bring in 1000 gallons.

Hi Mike when I have a tree that must fall exactly where I want it, I attach a snatch strap as high up the tree as I can, and the other end to a 4WD ute (pick up truck) tow bar ( similar to retrieving a 4WD that is bogged). I then cut the tree similar to your method but leave it a bit short so it does not fall. Then drive the 4WD and the tree comes over very easily exactly where you want it and you are away from the action. To remove tree roots I use a riper on a backhoe just keep moving out from the tree until the root rips out of the ground, its pretty quick and always works, regards Palle Sydney Australia

Get your chips put them in a concrete mixer, add “mulch paint “ and make your own mulch. Mulch paint/dye should be available at any large landscape supply store, or the internet of course, in a few different colors. You can also use mulch paint in a pumpkin up sprayer to refresh old mulch.

Several years ago, a friend down the road had a hornet nest at the peak of the roof, under the eaves, three stories in the air. Neither of us was good enough to hit it with a tennis ball from the ground, but I had the bright idea that I could put the ball on the end of a field tip arrow, soak it in gasoline, and shoot the nest with it, burning the nest and its residents, which would all fall harmlessly to the ground. What I didn’t count on was the flaming arrow sticking in the wooden eaves! 😲 Fortunately, it fell to the ground, taking the nest with it, before it did any damage.

You should have the trailer perpendicular to the chipper so you pull the trailer in and then you pull the chipper to the back of the trailer so the spout goes over the back of the trailer and you have the length of the trailer for the wood chips to go farther.

I use stacks on both sides of my hydraulic trailer for carrying brush. Super job on getting your build site ready, take care.👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
