I like how the box blade can "carry" the dirt along, really smooths things out for a finished result. The rippers are key to getting it to work in hard pack, I guess? I'd like to get one eventually. I decided to go with just a heavy grader blade for now because of the angle positioning ability. I have some terracing to do and thought it might be a little more helpful than the box for that task, sending the dirt downhill as I drive along.

Great job Melissa, especially for your first run with the box blade. Couple of tips. For the finishing passes, lift the scarifiers up so you have just the blade cutting to get rid of the shank streaks. You can vary the blade's cutting depth by adjusting the top link and have the front and rear cutting blades do different tasks. I myself usually use the box blade for the rough grading and then switch to the land plane (which you will love to work with and you'll do great with) for the finish work. Will leave your work looking even better and will do it quickly. Keep up the good work and don't be afraid to dig a little deeper, it's just dirt and can always be fixed.......Dan from Montana

Mike... You'd best be careful if you come home late and it's dark. If you plan on pulling down to the lower yard you just might accidentally drive into a swimming pool size/shaped hole in the yard!

Thanks for the great demonstration Melissa. I just got my tractor (22HP compact with Loader) & am getting the hang of moving dirt with just the loader. My next challenge is what implement to buy first (I am on lots of hills- Sr. citizen on fixed incomes having to buy 1 at a time). I have been thinking about a tiller, but have a need to level & cultivate the sub-strait clay & rock. I'll ultimately add 6" top soil & seed).Your"s & Mikes videos using the box blade make me consider the box blade first. If I were there I'd ask Mike what implement he would buy first.

I don't understand why you are dragging the box blade all the way . You are trying to remove the hump. The way you explained it you wanted to take the soil from the hump and put it in the wallow then just box blade the hump and use the bucket to move the soil.

Keep up the good work, just found this video and subscribed for my wife, we just bought the BX 2380, not the S so no backhoe. told my wife she can use it but says she can’t, you can show her how easy it is. We get delivery next Wednesday so then the fun begins. I know your videos of you will build her confidence and make her gardening more enjoyable and easier, we have quit a few years on you (in our 70’s) but can learn a lot just by seeing how you handle that tractor. We will follow along...... So the seniors are watching

let's get real nobody is born with experience nobody. No matter what the job, sport or anything. That said lets refer to the FFA motto " Learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live and living to serve". What does this mean someone can tell you over and over how to do something but one does not really learn until you get out and do it. One hundred years ago my favorite teacher said " you can be told how to drive a car but never learn until you get behind the wheel". That said good job.

Nice job, Melissa, be sure when the roll bar is up to have your seat belt on, I've seen some terrible accidents when the roll bar hit an overhead object like the tree limb you bearly missed - they will tip your front end up in a country minute. Stay safe, always be cognizant of your "total size" as you move your equipment around. After awhile you will get a feel for your equipment - what it can and cannot do. Again, enjoyed watching you working the equipment.

Well Mic You are fortunate man and have a grate family and the boss is pretty good to. Can you do a segment on a KX 04-4 when you do the ground work for your new shed. I am thinking of buying one and don’t know weather to get the U55 or the KX04-4 . The thing I like about the KX is that it is the same width as my tractor and a bit less to cart about on a trailer. It had a counter balance will that compensate for the width of the U55 REGARDS FROM TASMANIA AUSTRALIA

Great job. One thing I noticed is and I know this is what you normally do and it’s learning, but when you have the equipment and the attachments to do the work use it. All that you did on the trail could have been done with the Kubota and not with a hand rake. Work smarter not harder.

Mike on your 356 show you are in the woods cleaning up, you are calling it brush cleaning with the grapple , so why don;t you get the brush hog and cut it up????The reason is you dont use a bush hog to cut up brush. So does it make sense to call it brush hogging????use the wright tractor terminology. I like your show , but old dogs can change there ways .

Mellisa yours and mikes videos will be training videos in class rooms for many young people who won't to learn to do the same things yall are doing. With the biggest majority off colleges being liberal hopefully kids won't go to them anymore and will go into farming or construction and other career paths . Great job .I have a feeling Mike never would have gotten off the tractor. He would have used the bucket or the box blade to push all those limbs and the target board right into the pit and covered them with the dirt. Oh well your learning and thats cool. Now when Mike is ready to start moving dirt from the bank by the sawmill you can do some of the loading dirt in the trailor with the bucket and take it up and dump it and spread it with the box blade and bucket .
