Mike - Nice work with the excavator. I certainly didn't think you were going to use this beast to do tree removal, but it worked great, and once again your gentle touch on the controls is a joy to watch. Blessings to you, Melissa, and the family. Hi to Hunter, Hannah, and Eva.

I have pulled three 15 inch oak stumps to increase the size of my parking area I started with a new CG1723B subcompact tractor. It took about 11 hours. My land is full of clay and rock/shale some of the rocks I pulled getting to the stumps were kind of large 500 pound (ish). Needless to say I am a new operator.

Why yes , a tour of the cab and controls would be cool. I’ve heard if a guy can operate a tractor he can operate a track loader or an excavator.

Mike, that was an amazing video! The stump of that cherry you pushed over has a threefoot section of crotch where the two trees split from each other that is premium wood for turners! When you start selling turning wood, that is highly daughter-in-law after. Even the lowest first limbs can have wonderful crotch figured wood in them. Just thought I’d keep bringing up cherry turning blanks for turning. So, be safe and from Central Texas, Have A Day and may God bless your family.

Your Kubota definitely has more power than my J Deere 35G 24 hp 8500 LBs mini ex thats why I find it easier on my machine to use my ripper tooth breaking roots when pulling stumps but if I had that size of machine I would go with the bigger bucket also. I definitely would like to see a video on the specs of that machine.

We're building a garage/barn also, and I dug a few stumps up with my tractor. It did the work, but it took forever, and left a huge hole in the ground. I rented an e55 Bobcat Excavator and took out the rest in no-time. I love doing work with my tractor, but sometimes the Excavator is the way to go... Keep up the good work!

Mike, you made a good decision getting the excavator. You would have a lot of time on that BX trying to get that stump out. Not to mention the wear and tear on it. I've tried it before with a similar sized tractor, they just aren't made for that. Good decision. Also, good job getting the dirt out of the roots on that stump too.

Hi Mike! That’s a mighty fine machine you get to play with for the next month! It made quick work of that stump and tree. Looking forward to seeing your adventures on it! Funny that you mentioned Letsdig18. I was having the same thought when you gave Chris the shoutout. You gave him a run for his money on this video! Thanks for sharing!

You would get a real nice crotch figure from that cherry tree Mike .... I really would like to see you cut at least an 8 or ten foot with the crotch included ! Remember that those trees gave up their life for the new building so it is only right that they live on inside the building as a bench, table, shelving or something ! :-) Do it for me please .... all the way from western Canada in Regina, Saskatchewan. :-) Dennis

I know that you can have three of these or one volvo and so if you have the time difference then this is a good machine. I have sat in several and so some have controls one way and the next another and then some have a way to change it to what you are used to. That option is kinda sweet but not a game changer. I see you using what power you have and wish it was another even ten more when it comes to curl or sweep and none have much of the last part. I will say that its your trees and you can grind it into smoker chips if you want... I have owned several mills including a rather large milling operation behind helicopter logging. We milled way smaller timber because we had a market that you would shoot a congressman for. A cordwood lot of cherry or other kinds of fruit trees would "net" me about three thousand dollars and that is not export which we did that too. I like the mill you have and would of maybe gone for some of the other features but rome wasn't built over the weekend and your largest cash income is firewood so it makes sense to me as well. I have got into some birch that had tap roots that went over twenty feet straight down and just near as big as the tree. I would get them over as much as possible and tickle some wood and they would pop that sucker off! /LOL.. I loved logging with excavators as well as not as much waste. You still have to cut that butt back as the grain is just horrible but the rest can be sweet

Maybe its just my machine, but it seems like the hydraulic pressure is turned down in this unit. My KX-080 will either pull it loose or stand the machine up. Maybe because its a rental the lower the relief valve pressure?

When you pick stump loaded with dirt .i notice the machine didn't tip forward . btw 5 ton Volvo 20 minutes . I like stumping before the tree is cut . dig the hole beside the 🌳 where you want the 🌳 to fall .snap roots on other side and let weight and gravity do the work

we get droughts quite often in Central FLA. That excavator video is awesome! Absolutely, please give us the 50-cent tour of that excavator. That may be my next rental/project. Pulling stumps, just plain cool! You are so right: Burying or grinding, not so cool. It always comes back to bite you when they start to rot.

When digging stumps you should have the blade face in the tree if you notice when you're pulling up trying to pop the roots your excavator keeps tipping when you're digging you always want the blade facing what you are doing

Since you have the machine for a while, please figure out a way to split screen the controls and the view out the front. Maybe a camera up high pointing down and one out the front. I think lots of people would like to see the left and right joysticks working and their effect on the boom and bucket. I’ve seen lots of how to ‘how to’ operate videos, but they’re always one movement at a time. It’s like trying to show someone how to walk and just filming one leg. The combination of movements with left and right joystick, combined with the boom/bucket view would be awesome.

How many hours for a stump like that with a BX23S ?? I say one and a half to two hours considering your soil and the size of those roots. Depends if you have a root-ripper as well. With a quick-detach bucket, root-ripper, 16" bucket and mechanical thumb, it would be a good 1.5 hours. That is some fairly large roots, and they are what slow down the little BX. Hey Mike, why don't you try it on one to see??? You will really appreciate that 080 after one stump with the BX. LOL!!! I have rented mini-x's before, and I own a BX23S. The BX takes a lot longer, but what a great little machine!!

You could I'm sure dig that cherry stump out just as well with out having left it as a tank trap. Cut your stumps down low. Leaving them high because you will be digging them out does not hold water. I look forward to an in depth description of all this big mini has to offer.

would have been better to dig the whole tree and push it over, then grab it and move it to the fire wood pile then cut it up, then you only have to handle it once.

Saw you rocking a little bit working perpendicular to the tracks when your first started........fun fun. Yeah man, would love to see what sorta goods the big "EX" has in it. Wonder why Kubota doesn't get in the biz with bigger machines? Not that you need it, but big commercial jobs and such. They make great stuff! Looking forward to see what you and "it" have coming!
