There is a place in Hastings, Minnesota and another one in Texas where you can run heavy equipment. I ran a Komatsu PC210LC excavator in MN. It was great a great experience. The place is called "Extreme Sandbox".

Hi Mike... thanks for another cool video. Curious about something, though: are you not going to install a silt fence around the perimeter of the digging area? When I look at your excavation site, during a rain event, the slope would cause a LOT of dirt runoff onto that public highway that borders your property. Any concerns in that regard? Anyway, thanks again and keep the construction vids coming.

I'm sitting in our 40x 72 foot heavy duty steel building. It takes 120 mph winds for Hurricanes and Jet streams and edge or small tornado. We had 100 semi trucks of builder sand and 105 cement trucks. The Dozer was a Cat 8 and was lazer controlled blade. He would take 3 trucks and spread and level and compact. He was busy and loved every minute.

Mike, they have a school that teaches how to operate equipment not far from you. Unfortunately the school has (and deserves) a bad reputation. I went there and took the heavy equipment mechanic course. The course itself was good but the rest of the courses and the students that take them are not really that good. I watched over my shoulder the entire time I was not in shop because I was afraid of getting mugged.... literally,

I'm waiting for your class. Do a "How-To" video on the backhoe. I can't begin to operate my little backhoe on my sub-compact the way you can! How you move the dipper in relation to the boom and the bucket cylinder to keep the bucket moving along the angle and the same plain through the whole stroke is amazing to me. Awesome to watch, frustrating to try and imitate!

Hello from Ayrshire, SW Scotland. Currently building a 32 ft x 21ft garage with cavity block walls, finished with a Harled render. Been waiting 4 weeks for the 4.8m door lintel. It should be arriving sometime today. With it in place we can complete the roof trusses installation and apply the concrete roof tiles. Can't wait to get it done. Trying to obtain the materials is a nightmare. It seems everyone is using the Covid pandemic as an excuse for every mistake or delay. Anyway, hope you get yours done quickly. Oh, by the way, a day hire for an excavator is £60, or £200 for the week. And £650 for a month, a lot cheaper than on your side of the pond it seems.

I’m in Tennessee. I think the reason you have hi views or loyal viewers who keep coming back is because you’re consistent, your videos are good and they’re always there and you guys always have some thing going on, I follow a few channels but some of them get old because they talk about all the stuff they’re gonna do and then months later they’re just talking about random stuff and getting nothing accomplished and that’s cool but on your channel you guys are always doing something and it just doesn’t get old. I think it’s also that you do a lot of stuff that’s not crazy but it’s stuff a lot of people would like to do but can’t always afford or don’t have the equipment and it’s kind of a way to experience it vicariously through you guys. But I think the reason you have so many views as you guys are consistent and you just get things done to where a lot of people just talk about getting things done and have all these a half done projects andFor viewers it’s kind of like a TV show or the episode never ends and they’re just 20 episodes going all the time, you’ll do the building for a while and then eventually you’ll have the building done then your move onto the wood shed or something else. And you mix it up with different equipment and we get to see how that run and you’re smart enough to talk about some of the science and physics behind these things were a lot of people are just doing what they saw on the video. I know if I see you doing some thing that it’s more likely to be practical and pretty much the right way to do it or at least a right way to do it to a lot of people you see them building houses and things on foundations you know we’re gonna fall apart in five years. I definitely thought the tractor would be faster on this, but I was definitely wrong, you’re making way more progress with that than the tractor. Now I think a bulldozer would’ve been the fastest. I had an idea for an invention which was a bulldozer that worked off of laser levels to automatically set the scraper depth so you can get near perfect level finishes. 😂😂 I see all of the GPS and computer I stuff on the combines and just try and imagine all the other things you could do. Plus who doesn’t want a laser guided D6. 😜

When I was working as a paramedic we had several volunteer squads with :experienced" EMTs (many years of very few calls/year) I had one of these members tell me "I've been doing this for 30 years,..." and before he could complete the thought, my partner said "You would have thought you would have learned to do it right". We each had around 10 years experience in high volume area ranging from urban to farmland. BTW: I'm from your neighbor state of New Jersey and wish I had the property to do what you do!!!BTW there is a construction themed "amusement park" in New Jersey for when Ti is a little older (and the pandemic is passed) and I just saw they offer instruction packages for adults. www.diggerlandusa.com/

If in the marked for a used excavator, have a closer look at the drivers seat and how it is worn (applies for machines that have seen quite a few hours of operation) If clearly more worn on the front tip of the pillow than elsewhere, it's often a sign that the machine has seen many hours with unproffesional operators and/or trainees. An unproffesional will often have the machine bounch a lot around (rough treatment, welds cracking too early and so on) and unconsiounsly want to have a sitting position all the way forward at the pillow to better keep balance and not being thrown out of the seat) A proffesional will generally have the machine move more smooth and be able to sit back relaxed and properly in the seat)

Started on a Gravely tractor with a steerable sulky seat, tiller, brush hog and snow blower, went into mechanics at a local Exxon and drove the tow truck, Rochester NY, went in the USAF for 8 years and drove bomb lift trucks rear steering, fit right in. Ended up in Las Vegas after traveling the world via Uncle Sam, started a landscape company and ended up owning over 200 vehicles, pick ups to End dumps, front end loaders, box scrapers, skidsteers and backhoes.

Mike, you look at just how easy this relatively small machine does the job and it just blows you away what you can do with one of these Excavators, just after the WW2 here in Australia the government started the Snowy Hydro Electric Scheme to kick start things and it is one of the engineering wonders of the world. I have been all over this project that went for some 30+ years and you look at what they did with the equipment they had and it just staggers the mind, if they had this sort of equipment then. Well worth a look on the internet if you have a lazy Sunday up your sleeve I think you will be impressed with what they have accomplished, nice and smooth on the excavator by the way very Pro.

Mike, Greetings from the island of St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. I'm originally from Painesville, Ohio. After 15 years on the island I miss NE Ohio/ Pennsylvania area and all we do up there. I have a couple palm trees damaged in storms I need to cut down. I should send you a video. Covid here is getting pretty bad coming in from the tourist from the states. Most islands in the Caribbean won't allow American tourist in. We had our borders closed in March until June and had zero cases until we reopened. The island is 3 miles by 13 miles with a population of 40K, so our hospital is very small. The economy relies almost all on tourism. Covid has been devastating to the island. Man that was one long job . Iran a D7C Cat pulling a 6yard pan . The pan was hydraulic over cable . Load with hydraulic and emptied hydraulics over cable out the back. Loaded hydraulic in the middle bottom. It was a lot of work just to make load up nice . After working each section ; then would have to be lleveled with a 12ft. Land plane. You had to go real slow in order to let the plane do it's job .. Sure did do a good job . Bossman said he h as don't seen air landing strips that smoth.
