Today the 5" Seamless Gutters were installed on the Hobby Barn, All made on site and was very impressive! We also did some grading inside the building with the Kubota MX 5400 and the Kubota BX 23S. I also took a little time to head to the woods and check out the fall foliage and see how its coming along!

Totally agree Mike, "ALL WORK, NO PLAY MAKES MIKE A DULL BOY" sometimes you need a break. I took a couple days off and the first day got nothing done, but the next day was quite productive. I enjoyed the Fall Foliage. This is my favorite season by far.

full disclaimer - cheeky comment ahead.. I wonder why builders pour a foundation BEFORE the building goes up tee hee But, to be honest, this is a "me" thing to do. Plan and design everything to a T, then get most of the way done, and go "ahhhhh, toots!" Then have to go back and make the job that should have been easy in the first place, alot harder> Cheers for keeping your chin up on this one guys and gals!

You know you've got a nice building when you can get a tractor in there for grade work. Take it for what you want, but being a one man band I'd set up some grids with string line on finish floor grade and just work yourself out of door.

acorns are very few this year, Black walnuts we had maybe 10 from our tree that most of the time fills up the yard. Persimmons none this year off of my three trees. Most people around here saying the same thing. Here ib Missouri That back gutter should have had a drain in the middle. Thats a long span for one on each end

Your project is coming along nicely! I enjoy watching people who actually know what they are doing and confident enough in themselves to let others follow along! Good for you! 👍🏻👍🏻 I don't want to force religion on anyone, ok? That's up to everyone to decide. I would like to point out that the "overabundance" of acorns is an indication of a very hard winter approaching. That's not an "old wives tale" it's a fact that can easily be verified by those who care to look. I just wanted to mention that for those who care to listen. Squirrels, for the most part are generally very smart! They are definitely more intelligent than most of their distant relatives who were elected to be "leaders" in cities, counties, states and in D.C. Personally, I think that the country would be in much better shape if we replaced most of those current "leaders" with their distant relatives who are smart enough to be gathering nuts and not actually nuts themselves! Have a great week and continued success with your endeavors!👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Mike, This is your neighbor to the north in Caledonia. I know you have a lot of irons in the fire at this time, but I've been waiting to see all the Morgans' together for an evening campfire out at the mini cabin. Apples are a big crop in my area, we'd have cider and donuts, hot dogs on a stick, s'mores family stories and a few silly songs. I hope you folks can find the time to do that before it gets too cold. Take care and God Bless..

Hi Mike, This is your neighbor to the north in Caledonia. Our fall colors are just about at peak in the Finger Lakes area and Letchworth State Park. I think my wife and I will be going for a leaf peeking ride tomorrow.. Have you ever thought about setting up an IBC container with a pump? It would be good to have for projects like the grass you planted this week. It would also be good to have when you are using the burn pit or anything else that causes sparks or flame. Just a thought to share. The Hobby Barn is looking mighty fine.

I would be nervous running the tractors inside that new building but you seem cool as a cucumber doing it Shaun. I was waiting for you to turn around and be sure how close the box blade was to the wall but you just looked strait ahead with confidence . You are definitely good with machinery. The gutter job was so cool to watch. They have that down to an art form. They no just how far apart they need to be carrying that 74 foot piece to where they now it won't kink and bend . Would love to know what that service cost. I cant image it was cheap but they are well worth it because putting up gutters yourself is a pain in the arse

Right when you hopped on the BX you had great footage of one BX weakness... The headlights are useless with a front end loader. My cousin has a BX and I've suggested to her to paint the back of the bucket flat black to avoid being blinded by the bright orange refection when working in the dark with the loader. Fortunately she got LED's on the ROPS (one point forward and one backward) and that makes things SO much better. I'm sure the lights on the cab of the 5400 make things workable.

👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🗽🙏🏻 Enjoyed! I would drop the loader off the BX and put a hydraulic cylinder for the top link on the box blade and run it off the loader control valve if you don't have an extra set of hydraulic connections. The box blade is a whole different implement with the hydraulic top link, being able to tilt it on the go gives you the ability to cut dirt or just pull the dirt to the area that is low. You can also drop the dirt gradually by tilting the box up in front. It also makes backing with the box blade work a whole lot better! Same for spreading gravel.

That acorn phenomenon is not just your imagination or some fluke. According to a fairly recent video by Steve Mould (kgpost.info/will/video/poanr2uk0GeTkrs ), it is part of the 'survival strategy' of oak trees that every 5 years or so the oaks in an area coördinate a several-fold increase in acorn production. In a normal year, most of the acorns will be consumed by squirrels, etc. In the bumper year, there will be way too many for the local fauna to consume and a lot of acorns will germinate. But if they were to produce that many every year the critter population would expand to meet the supply, so the lean years keep the population low enough that a lot of acorns can sprout during a bumper year. The phenomenon is called MASTING, or a mast year.

Acorns...when there is a bumper crop it is referred to as a Mast Year...scientists really don't have a clue as to why this happens...I have a large Oka in our yard here in SC and two years ago I thought it would be interesting to see how many acorns came out of this tree, I bought a fancy nut picker-upper and filled 5 gallon pails...I got approx 5000!!!! acorns from this huge oak...

It sure looks like you have a long ways to go before you are ready for a concrete floor to be poured!! Looks like lots of finish grading for sub-grade and don;t forget the compaction factor of the sub grade. Rent a plate compactor!!! Pack it hard and tight or you will be sorry later. The under side of your concrete floor should look nearly as smooth as the top.

It looks like with the interior grading is a large and time consuming task Obviously you must be extremely cautious not to damage any of the structure. I know you are very skilled at operating heavy equipment. I believe you mentioned in a previous video that you worked as a heavy equipment operator. By continually watching your channel, I’m learning additional methods of outdoor work. For example, I’ll see something on one of your videos and I’ll go out and try it. A great example was watching the video on tractor maintenance. I now spend more time doing preventative maintenance on my John Deere 2305. And I’m now interested in trying out a Stihl chainsaw. I’ve owned Husqvarna for 20 years. Something else. We are past peak foliage up here in Northern Vermont. I would say Western Pennsylvania is probably a week or two behind us. Signing off from Highgate,Vermont.

No doubt you will be ok with this design of manufacture. To me it is Topsy Turfy ! [Gilbert and Sullivan..] In deep clay we build the concrete first with J bolts sticking to the sky. Once dry then comes the steel beams and structure or the bottom plate with foam between board and concrete. The J bolts hold tight in the concrete and you can crank down and fix the steel or bottom plate firmly and build from there on up. I think it is done the same way on limestone rock bases as well. Hey Mike, just a suggestion for your rain water collection. With the hills and elevation drop you have (going down to your wood processing center), you have a great setup for collecting all of your rain water (before you start pouring cement). Dig trenches along the lenght of your building to accomodate 4" PVC pipe. Add adapters to your gutter downspouts to connect them to the PVC. You have plenty of room to get the "drop" needed for the entire lenght of your building. Once you have your three runs (includes the overhang) at the far end joing them together with a collection (manifold) pipe. You can then set up your collection tank at a distance from the building that will allow complete draining of the inground pipe. All of your runoff water is diverted away from your building. If your collection tank overfills, no problem, an overflow pipe will take care of that. If you find you want more collection capability you can add more tanks later. The main thing is to get all of the runoff away from your building. You might even be able to use the water for your future pool.
