16 күн мурун

Melissa and I start working on the Downspout Drains for the New Building, We are using the Kubota BX 23S with Backhoe. We decided to spend the extra money and go with schedule 40 pipe instead of the standard sewer and drain.

Mike I noticed you adjusted the thumb on the backhoe part of the way through the video. I saw that it was set down close to the bucket and gets in the way. I did the same thing while recently digging a 300’ trench down the side of my driveway for a propane line.

Mike I really enjoy your videos and your content. I love how you take care of your things. However your favorite shovel handle looked very dry and cracked. May I recommend "Wranglerstar 's" method of tool handle maintenance. It sure changed my view on tool handle care. It doesn't take a lot of time either.

After hand digging 30 feet by hand in the rain in mucky clay (up to 5 foot deep), to attempt to repair flexible downspout drain pipe used by my contractor, I will never again use anything my SCH 40 for downspout drains!

Use 2 45's at corners, not 90's, leaves, sand and such will stand a better chance of not backing up.

Mike - Another great video showing your skills on the equipment. That shale you put down for the base of the building site was a bit of a challenge for your small tractor to get through. But it sure beats digging that by hand. Blessings to you, Melissa, and the kids. Hi to Hunter, Hannah, and Eva.

Love that you have this cool machinery for the tough jobs like trenches,,,but I hate that I might need to need a trench for my workshop electric line in Spring 2021, theres an existing electric supply line, but whoever put it in only put it down like 4", and it was run to the yard light, then routed back to the shed.....🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

If you would put in a cistern and catch that rain water off the roof you could fill the swimming pool and run your pressure washer, etc. and take the load off your well or better yet, lower your water bill if you have city water. Just a thought.

Did you feel it necessary to glue everything? I've done this same work on smaller properties with lots of connections, and we've never glued the pipes (we use Schedule 40 too). The pipes dry-fit damn tight and gluing just seemed really difficult and unnecessary. The few times I've had to make a change, it was nice to be able to bang the pipes back out of their fittings.

I am a plumber by trade and you should have a clean out at a change in direction. You should never use a 90 on its side, use two 45 degree ells instead, there will be less chance of a blockage. Regards, Edgar

I think if I had been installing the drain line I feel a longer sweep 90 would allow the water to flow better. If you are draining half of the roof area the water is going to have a tough time making the short radius without backing up. It will be really interesting to see if you use a standard "T" fitting or a sweep T on the final connection. Also, if you do have an issue down the road maybe adding a copper wire in or along side the pipe for tracing would have been beneficial

Just curious on or what your take is on this particular model...

I’m really impressed on how Mike and Melissa work very well together. There is nothing wrong with couples working together. My wife and I spend time working on large outdoor projects. We complement each other. I’m guessing Mike and Melissa do the same. My belief is that it helps keep a marriage growing. Let’s face it in today’s world,it’s easy to become disconnected with each other and eventually relationships suffer. But by working together, it builds communication and strengthens bonds and creates continuity and permanence to a relationship. Good night from Highgate,Vermont.

M & M - M, I’m what I call a background guy. I watch your videos and enjoy them A LOT! But I look at the background as much as the video context. For example, in today’s video about half way through there sat Daughter Hanna’s car. Nothing unusual right? It’s great to see that Daughter Hanna has followed her parents example on keeping her car clean. Every time we see it it’s clean as a whistle. Good Job M & M and 👍👌to Hanna

You must have so much fun, "playing" with all the different gear. Like a kid in a toy shop, but for real tasks. I also like my old shovel just like yours for all general moving stuff around, but since I started doing more fence repair and digging drains work and the like, a fencing shovel has been what I have used most. In Oz, the heavier grade is the sewer pipe and the stormwater is the thinner pipe. I would have used a bit less 2a limestone as backfill, but at least the shale was useful to fill the low spot in the "shed"/barn.

Do not put a 90 degree sharp bend in a drain pipe. Use a long sweep bend or two 45's to make the turn. You may need a cleanout at the corner as well if it's not too late.

I have, in the last few weeks seen some videos for that system due to Location, very little rain fall or as a irrigation source not public supplied. I would say what ever your reason, IT IS something you can always do later.
